The plastic waste crisis is the result of our dependence on plastic packaging and single use items. Each years over 150,000,000 tons of plastic packaging are produced and this out of control consumption is planned to grow further by over 50%. Because less than 10% is being recycled, it is a real disaster with trillions of pieces chocking the environment. Plastics are responsible for the loss of many wildlife, for terrible pollution and micro-plastics poisoning. It is urgent to create new materials to protect our future.

A solution to the plastic tsunami

PVA PRO created AquaFlex, a PVA based biopolymer that is water soluble, biodegradable, compostable, recyclable, marine safe and edible by all wildlife. It does not create micro-plastics and degrades safely once disposed. It can be used for the production of many products to replace traditional harmful plastics.

Sometimes challenging for the consumer, mistakes can be made while trying to dispose of the waste which can then create challenges down the line. PVA PRO products are safe for the environment and suitable for all end-of-life scenarios. It can be sent to the recycling bin or green waste collection and it is suitable for both landfill and composting. In land or marine environments it will degrade quickly and it is edible by animals who mistake it with food.

AquaFlex polymers offer great technical properties and functionalities suitable to replace many plastics that contribute to the plastic pollution crisis. They are strong, transparent, printable, heat-sealable, easy to use and have a long shelf-life compared to other biopolymers making them so unique.
